Aurum Zevra ultra-limited edition lightweight carbon road bike
The Aurum Zevra is the first limited edition for the new premium road bike company of Basso & Contador, meant to recreate those early development prototypes…
…back when we spotted teasers of the project simply code-named A bikes at the time.
But under the eye-catching black & white zebra-striped paint job that gives the bike its name, is a standard Aurum Magma – built around its UCI-approved, made-in-Taiwan 850g carbon frame.
That’s the brand’s debut and still only premium carbon road bike, combining lightweight construction, race-ready geometry & stiffness, all-day rider comfort, and the latest modern tech like neat integration, subtle aero shaping, disc brakes, thru-axles & room for up to 30mm road tires.
Limited edition build details
The twenty-one Aurum Zevra-edition Magmas get a suitably top-tier build, starting with a current Shimano Dura-Ace R9100/R9170 series Di2 groupset and ultra-premium German carbon Lightweight finishing kit.
And even get both Basso’s & Contador’s signatures at the seat cluster.
That includes a set of Lightweight Mileinstein Evo carbon wheels, Lightweight Bügelhalter carbon stem, Lightweight Kompaktbügel carbon handlebar & Lightweight Leistungesträger carbon seatpost – all handmade in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Topping it all off is a special limited ZEVRA edition Prologo saddle, and of course inside everything that spins are CeramicSpeed bearings, plus the whole OSPW upgrade to make you incrementally faster.
Aurum Zevra limited edition – Pricing & availability
In the end, it appears that the limited edition Aurum Zevra is a faithful recreation of the custom-finished Aurum Magma bikes that Basso & Contador actually ride. Only 21 bikes are being produced, and as we go to press just 11 are remaining. You can even pick which number you want.
The bikes are available in six stock-sized (50-61cm) with the same geometry & size-tuned construction as the regular Magma. The limited-edition Aurum Zevra bikes retail for 14,900€, with pre-orders accepted now for September 2020 delivery.
